Orange is the New Black actress shares awkward marathon experience

Through years of running, we accumulate our awkward running experiences. The funny race stories seem to top them all. As runners, we never tire of telling them and we are always eager to hear the stories of fellow runners.

Orange is the New Black actress Uzo Aduba, who plays Suzanne or “Crazy Eyes” is no different. The woman who is a lead character is the hit Netflix series is a runner and has two marathons under her belt. In 2013, Aduba ran the New York City marathon running a 5:01. Just this past spring, she ran Boston.

In a recent appearance on Conan, Aduba satisfied runners by opening up about an awkward running experience. Being a well-known character on a show as popular as Orange is the New Black, Aduba was recognized during the New York City Marathon. Close to mile 17, a fan joined her in the race.

“I know who you are,” he said to Aduba. “I’m not going to bother you but we’re going to take a selfie,” he said before taking out his phone and snapping a shot of the actress mid-run.

Like many actors, Aduba has the problem of fans knowing her character name but not her real one. It’s not uncommon for fans to cheer “Go, Crazy Eyes!” while she’s running she says. Check out Aduba talking about her experience on Conan in the video below!
