Treadmill running record broken

The Guinness World Record for longest distance covered on a treadmill in 12 hours has fallen. David Staley from Colorado ran 131 km on a treadmill at the University of Denver. Staley beat the previous record by 1.75 km, which had been set last year by Staley’s friend, Denis Mikhaylov.

The 30-year-old runner says that boredom wasn’t a problem, as his friends and supporters rode stationary bikes nearby, or got dance parties going to keep him distracted.

Despite the fact that he now owns the record for treadmill running, Staley says that he much prefers running on the trails to running indoors. Before breaking the record, Staley had only been running a few times a week and with no specific training plan.

If you are going to hit up the treadmill for your run, make sure you brush up on these treadmill rules to keep you respectful and safe.
