Weekend weather: Best and worst places to run

June has been a pretty rainy month for many runners, depending on which part of the country they live in. This weekend, it seems as though the Father’s Day run is going to involve some puddle jumping. Many parts of Canada have rain to look forward to tomorrow. Some provinces are promised dark and stormy weather.

Ontario is likely to be the worst for planning a run this weekend. While conditions today are alright, tomorrow will be hot and muggy– less than ideal weather for a run. There is a risk of severe storms as the day goes on.

The southeastern section of Saskatchewan also has severe thunderstorms on the forecast. Storms might start as early as today. As for the western Prairie provinces, they will be just a little cooler than normal for this time of year.

Newfoundland is expecting weather that is neither good news or bad news. Today will be clear. Tomorrow Newfoundlanders are likely to see rain but not until later in the day.

The best place to run in Canada this weekend is the southeast coast of B.C. The area of the province is one of the only places in Canada that is promised to stay dry with seasonal temperatures. The interior of the province will be rainy today but clear tomorrow.

Quebec is also not bad. Today the province is clear. Tomorrow, runners there will have to just wait and see.

Looking internationally, Canadians can be jealous of Amsterdam runners. Right now, the city is 16 degrees and clear. That’s not too hot and not too cold for outdoor workouts and long runs. Not  impressed by the weather? At least you’re not running in Melbourne at the moment. It’s winter there right now and only four degrees currently (though it’s late at night at the moment).
