Weekend weather: Best and worst places to run in Canada

Canadian runners better have invested in hats and rain jackets this season. This weekend is going to be a wet one for many regions across the country.

The wettest region to run in this weekend is Eastern Quebec. Runners there are expecting 30mm of rain over the next couple of days. Their Ontario neighbours have been experiencing a wet week with strong winds and heavy rainfall but it looks like Saturday will be a great day for runners in the province. Best to get out for a run though because the wet conditions will return for Sunday.

The coast of Newfoundland is also going to be blustery with heavy rain. Don’t expect to stay dry if venturing outside. The rest of the Maritimes are experiencing lows tomorrow with rain. Up to 20mm is expected.

Runners living in stormy regions of Alberta will have to plan accordingly. Showers are promisied throughout the province but areas surrounding Calgary and Edmonton will be experiencing summer thunderstorms which can be dangerous to run in.

B.C. is looking warm and sunny in places. The interior will get showers which will bcome stronger heading into the northeast.

The best place to run in Canada this weekend is Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories. For runners there, it’s their time to shine. Literally. With the solstice coming, the sun is currently up for the entire day meaning runners can go for a run in the sunshine at 2 a.m. if they choose!
