Kara Goucher has harsh words for Nike Oregon Project
The U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials was not without controversy as a pair of post-race interviews took the spotlight including harsh words from Kara Goucher.
Following her fourth place finish at the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, Kara Goucher had some choice words for the Nike Oregon Project, a training group coached by Alberto Salazar and based in Portland, Ore., in reference to shady training tactics.

Goucher says “justice is coming” in reference to her former training group and after being asked about Rupp winning the overall race.
The BBC aired a program in the summer entitled Panorama, which investigated the Nike Oregon Project and allegations of doping. David Epstein, writing for ProPublica, interviewed Goucher and former team coach Steve Magness, both of who raised concerns of ethics during their time with the training group.
When asked in an interview later in the day, Galen Rupp responded that he has always been an advocate for clean sport and that he is cooperating with all officials associated with doping control.
Goucher’s interview was not the only controversy surrounding the U.S. Trials yesterday. Runner-up Meb Keflezighi was frustrated by Rupp during the race after being clipped several times as the eventual winner drafted Meb before dropping the 40-year-old.
