Roger Bannister documentary in the works

A Kickstarter campaign has been launched in the hope of raising enough funds to finance a documentary in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the first sub-4:00 mile.

Kimiba Athletics, a Boston-based agency that represents some of the best runners on Earth, started the campaign and are producing the film.

On May, 6, 1954, Bannister shattered what was seen as an unbreakable barrier in sport, running 3:59.4 on a track in Oxford, England in from of 3,000 spectators. The feat opened the flood gates for runners everywhere. Today, the mile world record is 3:43.13, set by Hicham El Guerrouj in 1999.

Kimbia has lined up interviews with many former world class runners including Seb Coe, Steve Cram and, of course, Bannister himself.

The Kickstarter campaign is looking to raise $12,500 by April 14 at midnight EDT.
