Time-lapse video shows the precision of building an all-weather rubberized track

Time lapse of Track construction Have you ever been curious as to how an all-weather track surface is constructed? Atletica Firenze Marathon released a time-lapse video on Tuesday showing the process behind building a track and field facility, from close-up shots to a birds-eye view.

Mondo, an Italian track surface manufacturer and the official track supplier for the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), is the most notable name in track and field facility construction, but is often misused as a generalized trademark.

The IAAF has strict standards for the construction of track surfaces but allows for a range when measuring the track’s radius, only specifying a preferred length (37 metres). Some tracks have notably long straightaways with tight turns, while others have short straightaways and extended bends.
