VIDEO: ‘Body Break’ TV stars are back, results are bloody brilliant
"Body Break" stars Hal Johnson and Joanne McLeod are back starring in a Netflix Canada commercial for a new show, "Santa Clarita Diet."
Many Canadians are familiar with it. The classic Body Break programs from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s which promote fitness and physical activity.
Starring Hal Johnson and Joanne McLeod, the commercials helped encourage Canadians to adopt small changes to benefit their lives. The 90-second commercials began as a ParticipACTION initiative.
Body Break refresher
The duo is back, starring in a rather dark Netflix Canada commercial promoting a new American horror-comedy web television series, the Santa Clarita Diet.

“Hal and Joanne never fall for hot new experimental diets and neither should you! Try the Santa Clarita Diet today,” reads Netflix Canada’s description of the video. The two introduce the “diet” to a woman on an elliptical who appears intrigued by the idea. The video takes a dark turn from there.

The show has received positive reviews though some have noted the abundance of graphic scenes. With that in mind, the Netflix Canada commercial seems to be on par with what one would expect from the show. The show premiered on Feb. 3, 2017.

McLeod was a member of Canada’s track and field team earlier in her career and competed internationally. Johnson played for Canada at the Baseball World Championships in 1980.
