Canada Goose to release activewear line

Canada Goose, the hottest trend in winter outerwear, is breaking into the activewear market. The brand has announced their spring outdoor performance collection, to be released in stores on Feb. 2. The collection features jackets and vests of lighter weight, with options that are waterproof, or water resistant and underarm ventilation.

Canada Goose has achieved major success over the past few years due to its ability to transform the winter jacket from an unflattering necessity, into a coveted fashion statement. This has been done through careful attention to flattering fit and colour options, in tandem with durability and warmth. The brand’s decision to break into the activewear market is in line with the recent trends of ‘high fashion’ collaborating with athletic wear, creating a phenomenon that some are calling ‘athleisure.’ The premise of this type of clothing is functionality for performance, as well as flattering for wear outside of the gym or run.

Spencer Orr, Canada Goose’s VP of design and merchandise says that the key difference between this line and those previous, is the emphasis on outdoor activity in all elements, something that year-round runners are intimately familiar with; “Whether you’re hiking through high winds or biking in the rain, the mobility and protection of our Spring 2015 Outdoor Performance collection allows you to embrace the elements and thrive outdoors.”
