The runner’s social media days of the week

motivational note to self#MotivationMonday or #MedalMonday

This is the day to post your favourite motivational quotes or inspirational images. If you don’t have any favourites check out some of our faves:

Mondays are also the day to show off any of the bling you garnered for your weekend race efforts. We share a photo of one medal each week that we think is particularly swanky.

#TrackTuesday

This hashtag has been popularized by the increasingly common run “crews” (different from run “clubs”). Track Tuesdays are a night for intervals, repeats or time trials.

#WorkoutWednesday

Every week, we post a workout to jazz up your work week hump day.

60 second intervals

Hill sprints

5K time trial

Kilometre repeats

#ThrowbackThursday

Sir Roger Bannister's racing spikes.

Thursday is the day to post a throwback of photo of you in those 80s split shorts or reminisce about that time you ran a PB. Embarrassing images encouraged.

We like to throw it back to historical events in running history too, with stories about:

Terry Fox

Roger Bannister and the first four minute mile

Women beginning to compete in the Olympics

#FartlekFriday or #FollowFriday

Don’t know what a fartlek is? We’ve got an explanation here. Friday is also the day to give a shoutout to your favourite running social media accounts. Give a mention to whoever is killing it on the roads or track, or who helps your stay healthy and injury free.

#WeekendWarrior

Sometimes, the weekends are the only time that runners with crazy work schedules have to put in hard training. These are the weekend warriors and you probably know one. Saturday is the weekend warrior’s favourite day of the week.

For the majority of runners, Sunday is the day of the long run. The long run is the best run of the week for many runners, as the pace is manageable and the distance allows for exploring. Post a photo of where your long run took you.

Sundays are also a classic day for races, with almost all marathons and halves taking place on Sunday mornings. We think that maybe this is done because Sunday mid-morning is prime brunching time post-race.
