Today is National Avocado Day, and lest you need reminding, avocados are an excellent source of nutrition for runners. Here’s why:
Avocados contain even more potassium than bananas. (Potassium is an electrolyte, which carries the electrical charge necessary for muscles to contract.)

Avocados are rich in healthy fats, especially monounsaturated fatty acids, which are good for the heart. (One 50g serving contains 5g of monounsaturated fat and 1g of polyunsaturated fat.)
Avocados are rich in fibre, which keeps your digestive system healthy.
Avocados are rich in vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, vitamin K, vitamin B-6, vitamin E, and others.
