Le Chocolat half-marathon giving away wine purse to finishers

The le Chocolat Mother’s Day Primer half-marathon in Windsor, Ont., this year is giving away a new sort of finishing prize: a wine purse.

“Le Chocolat is a Mothers’ Day-inspired run that celebrates what our runners have asked for: a scenic course along the Detroit River, firemen, chocolate, and of course, a 3L wine purse,” said race director Chris Uszynski.

The event hosts a half-marathon, 10K or 5K through Windsor’s Walkerville neighbourhood and along the  Detroit River.

“Having Walkerville as a backdrop is great. Chocolate, Firemen, Wine, beautiful course. Can you say Happy Mother’s Day?” said Uszynski.

The May 4 event raised money for Sparky’s Toy Drive which gathers unopened toys and cash donations for families in need in the Windsor area.

There are 500 bib numbers remaining for the event and registration is open until April 30.
