Updates to the upper and outsole
The major updates to the Cumulus come in the upper and the outsole. The brand has added the Leanback heel design to make the upper a little sleeker. The Fluidride outsole features a blend of EVA and rubber to provide better durability and grip–so that you don’t have to replace your shoes as often! This foam also allows for a smoother and softer landing, since some foam has been left exposed; rubber is only used in high-contact areas, as opposed to covering the entire outsole.
The Cumulus 26 is the first ASICS shoe to be labeled CO2e, giving runners transparency into the brand’s sustainability efforts.

Carryover from previous version
The midsole cushioning in the Cumulus 26 has not changed–it’s still FF Blast Plus, which is also used across many of ASICS’ beloved lineup of trainers, such as the Superblast and the Novablast. This foam strikes a great balance of cushion without excessive weight. It’s the kind of foam that helps you feel protected but energized. As always, this FF Blast Plus is coupled with Gel cushioning in the rear, to soften your landings.

Ideal uses
The Cumulus 26 is an ideal shoe for the neutral runner (i.e., who doesn’t need extra stability in a shoe) who needs a trusty trainer. The Cumulus is great for an easy run or a long run, and pairs well with the Metaspeed Sky or Edge or the Magicspeed for interval training or for race day. If you’re looking for a workhorse that can do it all, the Cumulus is also an ideal fit.
