Five things to wear when… running through a major snowfall

Running in a late-season snow fall? A big snow dumping in early spring can be discouraging but spring isn’t far off– just bundle up in spring-like tones.

Female fitness sport model outdoor in cold winter weather

Expecting a late-season dumping of snow? As spring sets in, spring is coming much faster than you might think. These are the weeks when the weather in Canada can be incredibly transitional. A big snowfall early in April can be Nike_Lattice_tight1a bit of a heartbreak, but don’t let it ruin your run motivation. Enjoy the fluffy snow and winter views while you can. We picked out some fun pieces to wear during late winter snowy runs. Our theme this week: salmon and peach hues to remind runners of spring colours as they bundle up.

Saucony_Swift_Skull_cap1Saucony Swift Skull Cap, $17.00.

Saucony has been playing with cool prints lately and we completely support this decision. The brand designs a nice skull cap for runners that keeps drafts out without being too bulky either. When the weather is being disagreeable, runners don’t need gear that malfunctions as well. This hat will fit slick and keep the ears and head warm without causing a majorly sweaty situation. The best thing about this hat though: it’s reversible. This two in one can be stripes or dots– suit your mood.

Nike Legendary Engineered Lattice Tight, $175.

The weather outside might not be saying spring but this print sure is. Nike knows how to take bold colours and patterns and create a piece of gear that’s not over the top. These tights are sure to get you noticed running along winter roads– even in white out conditions.

Adidas_women's_supernova_storm1Adidas Supernova Storm Jacket, $110.

This jacket is great. For one, it’s a figure flattering design for women and it gives protection on the tush from the back splash runners get from running in snow. The second thing that runners are going to notice is that its water repellent fabric is not going to let those snowflakes work their way through as you run. The print on the cuffs is a New Balance Compressionnice detail and the peach colour is going to work right through to the end of spring.

New Balance Trinamic Long Sleeve Top, $89.99.

This top by New Balance is a winner. For runners who look for compression on top, this is a high quality go-to. The Trinamic Long Sleeve Top is warm, snug and a good base to wear underneath winter layers. The salmon colour scheme is sharp so that once The_North_Face_hoodie1the weather warms up (and it WILL warm up), runners will love to wear it on its own.

The North Face Women’s Arcata Hoodie, $119.99.

After the run, most of us like to dress in something cozy while we hydrate or chomp down on some yummy post-run snacks. For that precious time of the day, an item like The North Face’s Arcata Hoodie is just the thing. It’s cozy, warm, extra soft and fleecy. Plus, its asymmetrical zipper make it interesting. Runners don’t want to buy boring gear– it’s a good thing that The North Face makes it easy to live up to that.
