Gear of the Week: Sneeker Sheets

Sneeker_Sheets

It’s summertime and for many of us, that means our feet are more gross than ever. We runners aren’t exactly known for having a lovely looking pair of footsies. Looks are one thing, but smell? That’s a whole other set of problems.

When the heat kicks up to the highest temperatures of the year, shoe smells get a little out of control. So this week, we decided to test an odor control product for shoes. Sneeker Sheets are developed by a man named Patrick Leeder who spent 25 years in the footwear industry before developing this odor-combating product for shoes. Sneeker Sheets are designed using natural products to destroy the bacteria that causes stinky smells in the first place. Made with plant-based enzymes, this inserts are paper-thin with an adhesive side to stick to the insides of shoes.

When we tested them on our shoes, our pair of kicks immediately took on a more hygienic feel. Because Sneeker Sheets come with a sticky side, we found that once inserted into the shoe, they stuck firmly in place– important for running, because as runners know, socks or inserts that move around during a run only cause blistering disaster. These inserts don’t have that problem.

The fabric feels moisture-wicking and comfortable under foot. The designers have created them to be scent-free instead focusing on taking out bacteria that causes gross smells. Runners will appreciate that they are scent-free as it’s a natural way to take care of smelly running shoes rather than dousing them in artificial smelling chemical sprays.

These inserts will prolong your favourite pair of running shoes and keep your gym bag smelling fresh. Canadian runners can find them at a variety of sporting apparel retailers for $9.99.
