How to watch the IAAF World Half-Marathon Championships

Streaming details for the March 24 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships with eight Canadians competing

The IAAF World Half Marathon Championships is happening in Valencia, Spain this Saturday. Kenyan Geoffrey Kamworor, who bested Mo Farah by 49 seconds in rainy conditions at the 2016 Worlds in Cardiff, Wales, is heavily favoured to win his third title. (Kamworor also won the TCS New York City Marathon last November.)

In Canada, CBCsports.ca has picked up the live stream, and you can watch it above (if there’s a streaming issue, please report it to us and we’ll fix it immediately; alternatively, click on the previous link for the CBCsports page).

The stream launches at 11:50 a.m. EST, and the gun goes off at 12:05 pm for the men, with the women following 25 minutes later.

US fans can catch it on NBC’s Sports Gold

Canada is sending four men and four women to Valencia, the biggest field since 2005: Evan Esselink of Guelph, Ont., Sami Jibril of Toronto, Cameron Levins of Comox, BC (a 2012 Olympian), Geoffrey Martinson of Oliver, BC, Victoria Coates of Hamilton, Ont., Sasha Gollish of Toronto, Kinsey Middleton of Guelph, Ont., and Emily Setlack of Kingston, Ont.

All the Canadians are veterans of the racing circuit, but new to this competition. Coates and Gollish were the top two female finishers at last year’s World Cross Country Championships.
