The Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend began taking registrations for the 2015 event over the weekend. The May 23-24 runs make up the largest running event in Canada, seeing 47,500 participants in 2014.

The registration is known to sell out long in advance for some of the races, so those interested in running should considering signing up early. Last year, the half-marathon sold out in November of 2014, over six months in advance of the race. The year prior, the half-marathon sold out in January. Other events are also known to sell out months before the race. In total, the National Capital Region race hosts six running events at the Race Weekend: a marathon, half-marathon, 10K, 5K, 2K and kids run.

The 10K and marathon are also known for attracting impressive fields, with the 10K being one of the most competitive in the world. In 2014 the marathon was host to the fastest ever result run in Canada by Ethiopia’s Yemane Tsegaye whow on in 2:06:54.

Though the Sunday falls on May 24, the weekend is not the Victoria Day “May 2-4” long weekend, which actually falls the previous week.

You can register for the races here.
