Top Canadian finishers at the 2024 London Marathon
Toronto's Timothy Fowler and Madeline McDonald were the top Canadian finishers in London

The 2024 London Marathon saw several world records broken in the men’s and women’s races on Sunday, with the reigning Olympic marathon champion, Peres Jepchirchir, breaking the tape in a new women-only world record (a race with no male pacers). In the men’s field, Ethiopian running legend Kenenisa Bekele placed second in a new masters record of 2:04:15, only 14 seconds behind the winner, Alexander Munyao of Kenya, who won his first marathon major in 2:04:01. Although there were no Canadian elites in the London Marathon field, several runners in the mass race clocked impressive personal bests and achieved notable age category placings.
The fastest Canadian finisher was Timothy Fowler of Toronto, who ran a personal best of 2:38:24. The top Canadian woman was Toronto’s Madeline McDonald, who crossed the finish line in 2:47:11, in 32nd place. McDonald, 29, has previously represented Team Canada at the junior level and ran at McMaster and Toronto during her collegiate career.
