Learn to love your body year round, not just when you are in race shape. The confidence will bleed into all aspects of your training.

So grateful for all the good. Trying to let go of the rest.

Just because one workout or race that you put your heart into didn’t turn out the way you had wanted it to doesn’t mean that should be your only takeaway from the day. Mistakes are learning opportunities. As much as I hate to say it (having spent the past year and a half injured myself), so are running injuries. They compel you to focus on being grateful to the people who care about you and compel you to consider what your body needs.
To the man whose “friendly” dog came after me on my run- it was biting me, we weren’t in a dog park, please use a leash. #thankyou

To all the owners of not-so-friendly-canines, please keep your dogs fenced-in.
Best thing about getting up at 4:30 am to run? The 9:00 am nap.

Early morning runs are great. The naps that often follow are even better.
Planned on taking 10 days off after the marathon. I saw snow today and thought; 11 sounds fine.

Kudos to all the runners out there who have braved our past few awful Canadian winters (pause while we shake our heads enviously at the B.C. runners that got to wear shorts for most of the winter this year). But sometimes snowstorms mean indoor days.
Friday nights at the gym are a weird thing. So rad because the place is deserted, yet depressing because apparently I have no life.

This statement also applies to early Saturday morning gym sessions, the two are kind of a pair.
Injured runner problems: Had to put the 30″ waist shorts away and unpack the 32″s. #expandingwaistline

Wish we all could have such a good attitude when this happens to us…
@SGollishRuns you’re braver than I am…my long run is happening in here today ❄️ pic.twitter.com/aJi4i4cHkU

Nothing quite like feeling that you’re in peak marathon shape only to have your Dad out-kick you in a 50m sprint at the end of your run…
— Kim Doerksen (@kadoerks) October 12, 2014
Anyone else get into running because of a parent-that-runs?

Ah, the double-run-no-shower-between day. Classic runner move.
