Lanni Marchant marathon canadian record STWM

Canadian Running is busy this weekend leading up the the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon; we’ve a lot of people working a lot of angles, but that doesn’t mean you should stop by and say ‘Hi!’

We’ll have a booth set up at the race expo on Friday and Saturday and we encourage everyone to stop by. We’ll be set up with the team from recently-released documentary Transcend, a Canadian-made film about the 2012 Boston Marathon champion and Kenyan member of parliament Wesley Korir.

Canadian women’s marathon record-holder Lanni Marchant will be around the booth on Saturday from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. to meet runners and sign autographs.

Alex Hutchinson, a popular sport science journalist will also be at the booth on friday evening, after his talk 5-5:20 p.m. talk on fuelling. Hutchinson is featured in Transcend, writes a regular column in Canadian Running, and has been featured in The Globe and Mail, The New York Times and The Walrus, among other publications.

Canadian Running editor-in-chief Michael Doyle will be moderating the speaker series on Friday and will be hosting the live broadcast alongside Tim Hutchings during the Sunday event. Canadian Race Guide editor Dan Way will be moderating the Saturday speaker schedule.
