How to watch the U Sports and NCAA Championships
Watch Canada's best compete at the U Sports Championships in Edmonton and at the NCAA Championships in College Station, Texas.
It’s championship weekend for many Canadian varsity athletes and there are two notable events that you won’t want to miss.
The U Sports Track and Field Championships, which many may know historically as the CIS Championships, are in Edmonton March 9-11. Meanwhile, south of the border, Texas A&M is the site of the NCAA Division One Track and Field Championships. U Sports serves as the Canadian university championships; the NCAA serves as the American university championships though many of Canada’s top runners attend institutions in the United States.
The Canadian university athletics system changed its name to U Sports in October following a lengthy stint as Canadian Interuniversity Sport. The 2017 championships are the first national track and field event which reflects the new name.
