Fuel the run: International Hamburger Day
You may or may not be aware, but today is International Hamburger Day. To celebrate, we have created a collection of delectable burger recipes of all sorts–some healthy, some classic, some gourmet and some weird.
Burger and running aficionados may find a role-model in Canadian marathon runner, Lanni Marchant, who is well known for her burger and beer post-race tradition, as documented on Instagram.
1) Green chile burger with fried eggs
Here’s a burger topper we’ve bet you’ve never tried.
2) Insanity burger
This recipe, from renowned chef Jamie Oliver, promises to be one of the best burgers you’ve ever tasted.
3) Bison burger with gorgonzola cheese
Looking to switch it up from the typical beef burger? Why not try bison meat?
4) Turkey burger with zucchini buns
Looking for a burger that’s healthier than the norm? This burger is made with lean ground turkey and skips the bun in favour for low calorie zucchini slices, making for a lighter dish without sacrificing flavour.
5) Tilapia burger with watermelon salsa and avocado
Another light burger, this is a really fun way to get your fish fix. Watermelon and avocado are an unexpected, but delicious, combination.
6) Salmon burgers with greek yogurt and dill
Swapping greek yogurt for mayo is a great way to healthify any recipe.
7) Blueberry burger
These blueberry infused patties offer a refreshing take on the classic burger. With blueberry season just starting up, this meal is the perfect summer grilling dish.
8) Brew burger
That’s right, the sauce of this burger is actually made with beer. Could any barbecue fare be any more appropriate?
9) Bacon wrapped hamburger
Putting bacon on your burger is so last summer. This year it’s all about cooking your burger inside a blanket of bacon.
10) Peanut butter bacon siracha cheeseburger
Yes, this flavour combination sounds extraordinarily strange. We dare you to give it a try.
