The Flat Out 5K is a popular event to kick off the racing season and the first race in the Timex and Toyota Road Race Series. The 2.5K loop course is flat and produces speedy times. Event headquarters, including washrooms, parking, awards and post-race reception are at Boston Pizza so that everything participants need is in one convenient place.

The third event in the Circuit de course à pied du Grand Montréal/Greater Montreal Running Circuit and now in its 23rd edition takes place in mid-April in Saint-Laurent. The 5K and 10K races start from the Ateliers Municipaux/Public Works on Cavendish Blvd. with the course run as a figure-eight double loop making it ideal for spectating. The course is flat and potentially very fast. It’s well marked, marshaled and has excellent aid stations along the way. Following the race, participants enjoy healthy refreshments and food at the cafeteria.

B.C.’s best-kept coastal secret may well be the April Fool’s Run which is celebrating its 38th running in 2015. The point-to-point net downhill half-marathon course from Gibsons to Sechelt offers unique coastal scenery, kind West Coast hospitality and fast times. Following the race, participants enjoy hot soup and refreshments, collect a unique finisher’s medal, and may take part in awards, a costume contest and draw prizes.
