Gollish started the night by winning the women’s 1,500m, breaking the previous record by three seconds, in 4:28.12. The previous W40 masters 1,500m record of 4:31.84 was set by Edmonton’s Erna Kozak in 1987.

Three hours later, Gollish stepped back on the track to win the women’s 3,000m in another Canadian masters record time of 9:36.34, smashing the previous W40 record by 17 seconds.

Gollish, 41, had a 2022 season to remember, reaching the podium at every Athletics Canada championship she competed in, except cross-country. She also won gold at the 2022 NACAC Half Marathon Championships in San Jose, Costa Rica.

At the 2022 Canadian Marathon Championships in Toronto, she ran to a marathon PB of 2:31:40 for eighth overall and third among Canadian women.

She adds these two records to her already substantial resume of world and national masters records. In 2022 alone, Gollish set the world record in the women’s indoor mile and achieved national records in the outdoor 1,500m, 5,000m and road 5K.

The Toronto-based distance runner is currently training for the 2023 NN Rotterdam Marathon in the Netherlands on April 16.
