The 2023 edition of the Chicago Marathon will go down in history for the remarkable records set in every category. With Kelvin Kiptum storming to a new world record on the men’s side and Dutch runner Sifan Hassan setting a new course record in the second-fastest women’s marathon ever, fans won’t be forgetting Chicago anytime soon. While Canada had no elite runners in the event (with the exception of Rory Linkletter serving as a pacer for U.S. marathoner and Olympic bronze medallist Molly Seidel), many Canadians were among the 47,000 runners who toed the line Sunday. Here are their top results.

The top Canadian finisher in Chicago was Marc-Antoine Senneville of Trois-Rivières, Que., who finished 38th overall, with a personal best time of 2:19:19 in his first Abbott World Marathon Major. Calgary trail runner and marathoner Melissa Paauwe was the first Canadian woman to cross the line in Chicago, clocking the second-fastest time of her career in 2:41:12 for 38th female.
