Runners criticize ESPN for Ronaldo workout post
We disagree with the statement that, "Only Ronaldo would be working out the day after Christmas."
During the holidays lots of runners use the time off to lace up and go for a run. The days off from work usually bring lots of socializing, but also lots of miles. The hashtag #christmasrun has over 50,000 affiliated posts on Instagram. Lots of people go running over Christmas.

This is why many runners are sharing and criticizing ESPN FC’s post of soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo water running on Boxing Day. The issue isn’t with the post, it’s with the caption: “Only Ronaldo would be working out the day after Christmas.”
I know a lot of people that are working out after Christmas… https://t.co/DMlSy07ZkK

Canadian runners were very quick to point out that many people worked out both on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Justyn Knight, World Championship 5,000m finalist, said that he knows lots of people working out after Christmas.
And it’s not only runners who use their downtime to hit the gym, lots of people (professional athletes or not) work out over the holidays. Here are some of the people who, just like Ronaldo, got out there and ran during the holidays.

Don’t assume running on a treadmill during tough winter days makes you a soft runner or less hardcore. Sometimes it’s simply about not wanting to slip or fall down. Plus it’s a chance to rock out to your jams. pic.twitter.com/Z7CRE6NSjY
