Most runners will get a run in on Christmas Day because what else are you going to do with the new running gear you received over the holidays? Even if you don’t celebrate Christmas, a day off of work will usually include a run. Here are some of the reasons that runners take to the streets on December 25th.

Some runners are looking to work off some of the cookies consumed over the holidays.

Many runners sign up for races to celebrate the holiday. Lots of places host runs on Christmas Day, like the many Park Runs across the United Kingdom.

Olympic silver medallist Paul Chelimo did a pretty wicked workout on Christmas Day, but for him December 25th is probably just another training day. #nodaysoff
