Peloton Tread released in Canada, U.K. ahead of U.S. launch

The fitness brand Peloton has officially released its latest product, the Peloton Tread, in Canada and the U.K. While the company is well known for its spin bikes, it has a lineup of other exercise gear and equipment. The Peloton Tread is the second treadmill produced by the company, but the first iteration— the Tread+ — was not available for purchase in Canada. 

The Tread is perfect for any level of runner, from beginners working toward their first 5K to seasoned vets trying to break their marathon PB. The treadmill can reach speeds of just over 20K per hour, which works out to about 2:59 per kilometre pace, and it can be raised up to an incline of 12.5 per cent.

What separates Peloton from other fitness brands is its fitness classes. When you get a peloton bike or treadmill, you can also take advantage of the company’s many guided workouts, whether that’s on the treadmill or off, for strength or core work. The Peloton Tread has a large screen mounted on the front, making for a perfect viewing experience for users.

These classes are updated regularly, so you’ll never run out of options, and you can find the perfect workouts for you, as they range in length and difficulty. There’s even a music filter, so you can pick the type of playlist that gets you motivated and excited to run.

Another cool feature found in these classes is Peloton’s rankings. When you’re doing a treadmill workout, you’ll be able to see how your pace stacks up compared to other Peloton Tread users, whether that’s all-time or live in the moment. You might not get many chances to race this year, but this will help to satisfy that competitive itch so many runners are feeling right now.

Also included on the Tread’s screen are all the statistics runners love to study. You’ll see how far you’ve run, your current, average and fastest pace, and your power output throughout the run, along with many other pieces of data. 

The Peloton Tread is available now, starting at C$3,295 for the treadmill itself. Other Peloton gear (like weights, yoga mats and more) is also available online. The Tread has not been released in the U.S. market, but it is expected to be launched south of the border in the coming months.
